Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Celebration Edition A Bold Step in Luxury Electric Mobility

In a significant development for luxury electric vehicles in India, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Celebration Edition, reinforcing its leadership in the premium electric SUV segment and showcasing how electrification is being embraced at the highest levels of the automotive market. This latest iteration of the flagship electric SUV combines cutting-edge electric performance with exclusive design details and comfort enhancements aimed squarely at discerning customers who expect both substance and exclusivity from their vehicles.

The EQS SUV, positioned at the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz’s electric SUV portfolio, has quickly become one of the more prominent products in the brand’s push toward electrification. With this Celebration Edition, Mercedes-Benz not only celebrates the SUV’s success but also brings additional appeal to a model that has already set benchmarks for range, luxury, and performance in India’s growing all-electric segment.

Pricing and Variant Lineup

The Celebration Edition of the EQS SUV is available in two distinct configurations, reflecting different customer needs:

  • EQS SUV 450 (five-seater): Priced from Rs 1.34 crore (ex-showroom)
  • EQS SUV 580 (seven-seater): Priced up to Rs 1.48 crore (ex-showroom)

These price points position the EQS SUV Celebration Edition as a top-tier luxury electric model, tailored for those who want flagship-level performance and versatility whether it’s a refined daily driver, a premium family cruiser, or a long-distance touring EV.

Electric Powertrain: Balance of Performance and Range

At the heart of the EQS SUV Celebration Edition is a robust 122 kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor electric drivetrain and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. This setup enables the SUV to deliver strong power, smooth acceleration, and exceptional traction in a variety of driving conditions, while also supporting rapid charging capability at high power levels.

  • In terms of driving range one of the most critical attributes for electric SUVs the EQS SUV models stand out.
  • The five-seat EQS SUV 450 achieves an ARAI-certified range of approximately 775 km on a single charge, while the flagship EQS SUV 580 expands that figure to around 809 km, making these among the longest-range electric SUVs available in India.
  • This range profile, paired with support for fast DC charging, makes the EQS SUV capable not just in urban environments, but also for longer highway journeys where charging infrastructure can vary.
  • The ability to refill up to 80% charge in roughly half an hour adds convenience for regular long-distance use, reducing the traditional range anxiety associated with EV ownership.

Design and Feature Enhancements

The newly launched Celebration Edition retains the core DNA of the EQS SUV an elegant, aerodynamic silhouette defined by smooth lines, a distinctive blanked-off front fascia, and a stance that balances luxury and athleticism.

  • The AMG Line styling package is now featured on both variants, bringing sportier exterior cues and 21-inch alloy wheels that give the SUV a more assertive road presence than before.
  • Perhaps even more noteworthy are the interior and comfort enhancements. The Celebration Edition includes a rear seat package as standard, which encompasses ventilated rear seats a feature often reserved for the most lavish luxury vehicles.
  • Mercedes-Benz also incorporates advanced digital interfaces, including MBUX technology with rear tablet controls, creating an experience that is both high-tech and intuitive for occupants in every seat.
  • Multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a premium audio system, and multiple screens further elevate the cabin ambiance, making it suitable for both chauffeur-driven journeys and driver-focused exploration.

The seven-seat EQS 580 adds practical flexibility with a foldable third row, catering especially to larger families or those who regularly transport more passengers.

Context in Mercedes’ EV Strategy

The introduction of the EQS SUV Celebration Edition is part of a broader strategic push by Mercedes-Benz to dominate the luxury EV space in India. Battery electric vehicles now represent an increasingly significant portion of the brand’s top-end portfolio, and the EQS SUV has emerged as a standout seller in that segment.

  • Its strength lies not only in electric performance but also in the way it integrates advanced features normally seen in exclusive luxury cars.
  • Mercedes-Benz has also hinted at an expanded electrified lineup in the near future, suggesting that the EQS SUV will share the stage with other BEV launches as the brand transitions further toward electrification.
  • This broader momentum is expected to include new battery electric sedans, coupes, and possibly additional SUV models all designed to appeal to both global and Indian customers seeking premium electric mobility.

A New Era for Luxury EVs in India

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Celebration Edition represents more than just another model launch it symbolizes the maturing of the luxury EV market in India. By integrating high-end performance, extensive range capability, innovative comfort features, and strong brand heritage, Mercedes-Benz has positioned the EQS SUV as a benchmark for premium electric SUVs. With prices that reflect its flagship status and a feature set that pushes expectations for what EVs can offer, this launch could help accelerate broader EV adoption among affluent buyers.

Hyundai Creta Electric Price Range And Features

Hyundai Creta Electric Price Range And Features

Hyundai Creta Electric Premium Electric SUV With Up to 510km Range

The Hyundai Creta Electric has strengthened Hyundai presence in India’s rapidly expanding electric SUV market. Combining the familiar Creta identity with an all-electric powertrain, the SUV offers multiple battery options, modern technology and a strong focus on everyday practicality. With a claimed range of up to 510km, the Creta Electric is positioned as a premium family EV for both city commuting and longer journeys.

Hyundai Creta Electric Battery and Range

Hyundai offers the Creta Electric with two liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery packs. The standard version gets a 42kWh battery and delivers a claimed MIDC range of 420km, while the long-range model uses a larger 51.4kWh battery with a claimed range of 510km. This gives buyers the option of choosing between a lower-cost configuration and a longer-distance version.

The long-range battery is particularly suited to customers who regularly travel between cities and want fewer charging stops during highway journeys.

Electric Motor Performance

The 42kWh version produces 99kW, equivalent to 135PS, while the 51.4kWh long-range model develops 126kW, or 171PS. The long-range version can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 7.9 seconds, giving the SUV performance that goes beyond its efficiency-focused character.

Three driving modes—Eco, Normal and Sport—allow drivers to adjust the vehicle’s response according to their requirements.

Fast Charging Capability

Charging convenience is another important strength of the Creta Electric. With a compatible high-power DC charger, the SUV can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 39 minutes. Hyundai also offers a 7.4kW AC wall-box charger for home charging, giving owners a convenient option for overnight or regular top-ups.

The vehicle uses the CCS2 charging standard, supporting compatibility with India’s growing public charging network.

Premium Interior

Inside, the Creta Electric gets a technology-focused cabin featuring dual 10.25-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Hyundai Bluelink connectivity and voice recognition add further convenience. Higher variants can also feature a Bose eight-speaker premium audio system.

A panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless charging are available depending on the variant.

Hyundai Creta Electric Safety Technology

Hyundai has equipped the electric SUV with a broad range of safety features. These include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist, Hill Descent Control and a high-line tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Higher variants also benefit from Hyundai SmartSense driver-assistance technologies, including functions such as Lane Keeping Assist, Smart Cruise Control and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.

Distinctive Electric Design

The Creta Electric retains the familiar SUV proportions of the conventional Creta but incorporates EV-specific design elements. Aero-style alloy wheels, dedicated exterior detailing and redesigned elements help distinguish the electric model from its petrol and diesel siblings. The SUV measures 4,340mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,655mm in height, with a 2,610mm wheelbase.

New Battery-as-a-Service Option

Hyundai has also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service ownership model for the Creta Electric. Under this arrangement, the upfront vehicle price starts at Rs 10.99 lakh, while battery usage is charged separately from Rs 3.90 per kilometre. Hyundai says the scheme is intended to reduce the initial ownership barrier for EV customers.

The regular Creta Electric starts at Rs 18.02 lakh ex-showroom according to Hyundai’s current listing.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Creta Electric combines familiar SUV practicality with zero-emission performance, advanced connectivity and impressive claimed range. Its 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery choices, fast-charging capability, premium cabin and extensive safety technology make it a strong contender in India’s electric SUV segment. With the additional BaaS ownership option, Hyundai is also attempting to make its electric SUV accessible to a wider group of buyers.
